Ehh, idk about that. GM cars are close to MPG like Honda and Toyota is, but they are still cheapily made and are nowhere near reliable as Honda/Toyota are. The only American company that is somewhat close to Honda/Toyota reliability is Ford. (last time I checked the internet on car statistics)
